According to the Mayo Clinic, by the time most women discover they are pregnant the child’s sex, eye color and hair color have been determined.[1] The 46 chromosomes, 23 from each parent, have joined to spawn human life. The zygote—the group of rapidly dividing cells—looks like a raspberry, but is actually a person with DNA distinct from the mother. In the following week, the baby begins developing a brain, spinal cord, heart and organs. Muscles, kidneys and reproductive organs form along with lungs, intestines and a bladder. Facial features start taking form and the jaw and inner ear develop. Arms and legs begin to sprout. With an ultrasound, you can see the heart pumping. It looks like a tiny, flickering light—an unmistakable sign that someone is growing in the womb.
By the seventh week, nostrils are visible and the eye lenses take shape. The budding arms and legs that have formed paddles to become hands and feet elongate in the eighth week. The fingers and toes form along with ears, nipples, and the upper lip. The baby is only ½ of an inch long, but it starts moving, even though the mother usually does not feel it yet.
Bones develop in the ninth week. The baby can bend her elbows. In the tenth week her head rounds and her neck develops. She is about 2 inches long in the eleventh week. Her genitals have formed, her eyes are separated and her eyelids close to protect her lenses. Red blood cells are produced in her liver. In the twelfth and final week of the first trimester, her face has a recognizably human profile. She’s developed fingernails and grown another ½ of an inch. She weighs only ½ of an ounce but that’s ½ an ounce of humanity—heart and soul.
Most abortions that are performed in the United States are done in the first trimester. Abortion.com, a website aimed and connecting pregnant women with the “right” abortion doctor, notes that 90% of abortions are performed in the first trimester.[2] “This surgical procedure,” says the site, “is 7 to 10 times safer than childbirth and takes less than 5 minutes to complete.”
Quick. Easy. How American.
So how does one surgically kill a baby in the first trimester?
T
he procedure is called “Suction/Dilation and Curettage.”[3] In this method, the cervix is opened and a thin rod with a razor sharp loop at the end is inserted into the uterus and used to dismember the baby. Paddle-shaped hands, round head filled with brain, beating heart, face with features resembling parents—everything is sliced up. That little sputtering little light you could see in the ultrasound goes dark and that once-growing baby is destroyed. Next, a suction tube is inserted to remove the uterine lining, placenta and dismembered body. Voila! The human life that developed over the course of weeks is extinguished in “less than 5 minutes.”

Powerful and graphic as it should be. This got me thinking about the previous questions I asked about the death penalty for abortion doctors. Would you apply the death penalty for 1st trimester as well or only for 2nd or for 3rd trimester? Should that make a difference at all?

Disgusting. I'm pregnant and intending to raise and love my child, I'm looking at pictures of ultrasounds online and I come upon this on the first line of results.
Great job, people. The power of hatred.
